Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian with clinical procedures across multiple species, including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection.
• Prepare animals for examinations and surgeries by performing animal husbandry tasks and maintaining a clean, sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
• Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines and laboratory instruments while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations.
• Handle diverse animals confidently using strong animal handling skills, and proper restraint methods for safe procedures.
• Maintain thorough records of treatments, laboratory results, radiographs, and patient histories in compliance with clinic standards.
• Assist in critical care situations by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments under supervision, and providing compassionate animal care during recovery.
• 1-2 weekends a month on call to triage incoming emergency calls.

Qualifications

• Current State of Kansas RVT license
• Proven experience along with animal husbandry skills for both small animals and large animals like horses.
• Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices.
• Experience with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis; familiarity with X-ray operation is preferred.
• Ability to perform animal catheterization safely while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
• Excellent animal handling skills combined with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple species.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
