Are you a compassionate veterinarian who enjoys the variety and challenge of mixed animal medicine? We are seeking a Part-Time Mixed Animal Veterinarian to join our growing, locally owned practice. This position offers a unique blend of in-clinic care and ambulatory veterinary services, providing opportunities to work with both companion animals and livestock throughout our community.
About Us
We are a privately owned veterinary practice (the only non-cooperate in Independence!) dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized care to our patients and clients. Our team values strong client relationships, practical medicine, teamwork, and high standards for our rural clients. We serve a diverse caseload that includes small animals, equine patients, exotic and food animals. Even more exciting, we are starting construction on a new facility this year.
Position Overview
The Part-Time Mixed Animal Veterinarian will provide medical, surgical, and preventative care for a variety of species while supporting our ambulatory veterinary services. This role offers flexibility and autonomy while working alongside an experienced and supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations, diagnostics, and treatment plans for small and large animal patients
- Provide preventive healthcare, vaccinations, and wellness services
- Conduct farm and ranch calls for livestock and equine patients
- Diagnose and treat medical and surgical conditions in a mixed animal setting
- Maintain accurate medical records and client communications
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure excellent patient care
- Educate clients on animal health, nutrition, herd health management, and preventive medicine
- Participate in shared on-call responsibilities (one weekend a month)
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree from an accredited institution
- Veterinary licensure in the state of Kansas.
- Experience in mixed animal practice preferred, but new graduates that fit our practice culture will be strongly considered.
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Ability to work (with support from staff) in ambulatory settings.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for farm calls

Schedule
- Part-time hours with flexibility based on candidate availability
- Combination of small animal surgery/dentistry and scheduled ambulatory visits. Based on individual interest and comfort level.
- Shared on-call rotation (one weekend a month)
