What are the responsibilities and job description for the AUTOCAD Civil 3D Drafter position at DPK Consulting, LLC?
DPK Consulting, is seeking someone who has AutoCAD Civil 3D experience and has drafter surveys (Boundary, top, Alta, As-builts, etc) for immediate hire. You must be able to commute to our office in Edison, NJ.
The Drafter will be responsible for drafting of land development plan sets for various types of retail, commercial, industrial and residential site projects throughout regions where we do business. Projects include working with several Fortune 500 companies, as well as working with local and regional developers with varying degrees of complexity.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary & Topographic Surveys, and As-builts Surveys.
- Calculation of survey points for construction layout purposes.
- Preparation of cut sheets
- Create survey plans from field crew data collector files (points), field sketches, digital photographs, and reference maps. Generate surfaces using 3d polylines and points.
- Drafting of the following plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D:
- ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys; Boundary, Topographic & Location Surveys that include Boundary & Location Surveys; Topographic & Utility Surveys; Roadway Topographic Surveys; Subdivision/Lot Consolidation Plans.
- Research and obtain standards/codes required by client, town, county, etc. through interaction with necessary personnel (PM, Survey Technician, Admin etc.) to accurately & efficiently develop the above noted plans.
- Coordinate project requirements with team members and assist in completing required tasks as necessary.
- Knowledge of processing of lidar scan data a plus
- Other duties as needed
Knowledge and Skills:
- Willingness to learn and ask questions
- 2-3 years’ experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of field survey operations, engineering and construction industry, understanding of survey calculations a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Team player who possesses excellent organizational and communications skills.
- Strong technical background.
- High School Diploma.
- Certificate/Degree or related education in Computer Drafting/Design (a plus, but not required).

- Plan and prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings, ensuring they meet company and industry standards and codes.
- Draft Land Development Plans, Zoning Plans, Concept Plans and Construction Documents.
- Draft Site Plan Renderings for Municipal Presentations.
- Work closely with Engineers, Designers and other Drafters to ensure coordination design effort is maintained.
- Complete drawing/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule; review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
- Organize/maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information.
- Utilize 3rd party applications to generate drawings based on specific project requirements.
- Complete earthwork analysis (cut/fill takeoffs).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Possess good working knowledge within CAD drawings as related to a variety of issues.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with respect to projects, CAD standards, and deadlines, etc. on a daily basis.
- Willingness to assume increased responsibilities.

- Ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
