What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Porter - Housekeeping position at Downtown Grand Las Vegas?
POSITION SUMMARY:
It is the primary responsibility of the UTILITY PORTER to maintain the cleanliness of the property, both indoors and outdoors. This includes working in high areas, caring for the floors, and operating heavy equipment. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Extraction and Spotting of carpets using proper techniques and equipment
- High dusts tops of ceiling vents and wall decorations using proper equipment
- Applies floor finish on proper surfaces using approve products and techniques
- Pressure washes outdoor surfaces using approved equipment and techniques
- Use of various machines included but not limited to carpet extractors, scrubbers (ride-on and walk-behind), burnishers, floor machines, lifts, wet/dry vacs, spotting machines
- Operates hand trucks and flatbed carts to move equipment to assigned work areas
- Uses proper techniques and equipment when moving heavy furniture to clean the area underneath
- Removes all rubbish from trash containers and transports to proper disposal
- Properly uses and disposes of chemicals when conducting area cleaning
- Conducts bio-hazard clean-up
- Moves furniture
- Ability to complete all Casino Porter assignments and stations
- Ability to complete all Houseperson assignments and stations
- Ability to work indoors in all environments including smoke and dust and ability to work outdoors in all environments including heat and cold and weather
- Be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds and pull carts/hampers weighing up to 300 pounds
- Must be able to communicate in English in both oral and written form
- Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Minimum six months experience as a Utility Porter or similar position
- Minimum one year experience working on various floor surfaces using related cleaning, buffing, and extraction equipment
Preferred:
- Three or more years' experience working on various floor surfaces using related cleaning, buffing and extraction equipment
- Large casino/hotel environment
- Completion of training at Culinary Training Center of 6 months or more
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of proper use of Chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management and guests.
- Ability to follow direction and complete tasks in a timely manner.
