The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is accountable to coordinate and monitor programs to meet or exceed all company and regulatory requirements for employee health and safety
What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role
- Conduct routine facility inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
- Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and delivery of EHS training programs.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries; perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions.
- Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and regulatory documentation.
- Support emergency preparedness programs, drills, and response activities.
- Participate in risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and machine safety reviews.
- Monitor contractor safety and compliance activities.
- Assist with workers’ compensation, return-to-work, and injury management processes.
- Track safety metrics and prepare reports for leadership review.
- Promote employee engagement through safety committees, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, construction, or industrial environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, or similar professional certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste, stormwater, air permitting, or wastewater requirements.
- Experience with behavior-based safety, ergonomics, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, and contractor safety management.
