What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Dove Die and Stamping Company?
A growing west side, IATF certified, automotive stamping company, is seeking qualified individuals, to perform layout, first article, in-process, and /or final inspections. The qualified individual will have the ability to use inspection equipment, such as: Height Gage, Comparator, Hand tools, Attribute gages, etc., as well as, read and interpret blueprints, setup and use a CMM for dimensional part inspection, analyze and interpret reports,
Complete, accurate operation at assigned work cell to include: Matching of job packet to job; Control plans; Insert sheets; Proper gauging – progressive gauges, micrometers, calipers; Proper machine guarding; Job Travelers; Completion of legible and accurate paperwork; Proper ID stamping of all parts. Job tasks must be performed “safely and satisfactorily”
· Responsible for cleanliness and housekeeping in the area where your work is performed. Must maintain a safe and suitable environment.
· The employee must use all the appropriate safety equipment. The required safety equipment ranges from safety glasses to proper use of machine guarding. Report all unsafe working conditions to your supervisor immediately.
· Responsible for understanding and following all the required procedures, work instructions and other documentation as required by ISO 9001 and IATF-16949 per the Dove Die and Stamping Quality System Manual. Follow Instructions to efficiently and effectively to produce a high-quality part.
· Must have a complete understanding of proper machine operation and machine controls. This includes all mistake-proofing equipment.
· Must understand importance of accurate record keeping.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Dependability to work as a team to include daily attendance, on-time reporting to workstation, timely return from break periods and restroom.
Skills/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge and experience within the field of Quality (ISO, Metrology, Gage Calibration, GD&T,SPC)
- 3-5 years of previous quality inspection experience in a metal stamping business
- Ability to read directions, job orders, measuring instruments (i.e. micrometers, calipers), blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate with other personnel is required.
- Self-disciplined and self-motivated.
- Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a long period of time, 90% of the time is spent standing.
- Must be able to frequently move about the cell (workspace) to access moving parts and machinery, etc.
- Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work order instructions and prepare production reports.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work
- Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Frequently relocates metal parts and equipment weighing between 1 pound up to 60 pounds at various times. Finished parts may weigh up to 40 pounds.
