What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Douglas County Visiting Nurses?
The Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting including but not limited to accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger (GL), account reconciliation and payroll. The Finance Coordinator is also responsible for assisting the Chief Financial & Compliance Officer with coordination of agency financial related services

- Maintain all general ledger accounts through standard control systems.
- Complete accounts payable process and related tasks and reports in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations and agency policies and guidelines.
- Complete payroll and related tasks and reports in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations and agency policies and guidelines.
- Coordinate with Human Resource department staff to assure accurate employee data and benefits for payroll withholding.
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files reconciling accounts, provide monthly detail to Chief Financial & Compliance Officer.
- Manage employee credit card statements and charges.
- Prepare deposits for finance/accounting office.
- Assist Chief Financial & Compliance Officer in tracking and maintaining Agency insurance policies.
- Coordinate worker's compensation audit.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financials and year end reports in preparation for annual audits and budget.
- Compile and provide the Chief Financial & Compliance Officer with data on the cost of charity care.
- Oversee year end payroll and vendor filings.
- Manage fleet car program in coordination with the Chief Financial & Compliance Officer
- Process medical record requests in coordination with Chief Financial & Compliance Officer or Clinical management as necessary.
- Assist Chief Financial & Compliance Officerwith designated tasks and/or projects.
Education, knowledge, licensure and certification
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or bachelor's degree in finance or business with a minimum of 2 years of accounting/payroll experience
- Basic level knowledge of EMR (electronic medical records), Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of accounting principles
- Understanding of payroll processes and regulations
