About this Job
This position resides in the Bienville Maintenance Unit and reports directly to the Transportation Operations Manager. It supervises parish maintenance operations on state and federal highways in Bienville Parish. The incumbent must be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision, and adapt to unforeseen conditions. They will complete the required DOTD training, continuing education, and conferences. The role requires knowledge of roadway construction and maintenance, operation of various equipment, and proficiency with computers, tablets, Word, Excel, Outlook, and DOTD work order/payroll software.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in the construction or maintenance of public streets, roads, bridges, highways, railroad rights-of-way, levees, airport runways, taxi strips, parking aprons, or parking lots.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Supervises Highway Maintenance Unit 510 (Bienville Parish): Plans, directs, and oversees all maintenance activities on state and federal highways, ensuring compliance with DOTD quality, safety standards, and policies.- Manages Personnel and Operations: Directly supervises 21 employees, including foremen and support staff; sets priorities, prepares work schedules, coordinates assignments, conducts performance reviews, approves leave, and recommends disciplinary actions.
- Oversees Resources, Equipment, and Reporting: Ensures proper equipment maintenance, efficient use of manpower and materials, accurate documentation of work activities, and coordination with district and statewide crews.
- Conducts Roadway Inspections and Public Response: Performs bi-weekly roadway inspections, addresses public complaints, and responds to emergencies 24/7 to maintain roadway safety.
- Provides Additional Support and Emergency Assistance: Assists with annual inspections, investigations, stockpile measurements, and participates in disaster or emergency response activities as needed.
