JOB VACANCY: Skilled Maintenance Personnel
LOCATION: Morehouse Parish School Board
4099 Naff Avenue Bastrop, Louisiana 71220
APPLICATION PERIOD:
October 27, 2025 – November 14, 2025 (or until the position is filled)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.
- Must pass a performance test demonstrating job-related skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in general maintenance or a skilled trade (carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance techniques, tools, and materials.
- Experience working on major projects in a school or commercial setting preferred.
- Satisfy the requirements for clearances: background check, DCFS CANS, and drug test
REPORTS TO: General Foreman or Supervisor/Administrator in Charge
EVALUATOR: General Foreman or Supervisor/Administrator in Charge
JOB SUMMARY: Maintain and repair the school system's buildings and grounds in an acceptabel manner to keep them in safe and efficient operating condition.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Will be required to work the same number of days as regular twelve month emplpoyees,
but will have different beginning and ending dates with flexibility for days off.
2. Will be required to work on Mondays during the four-day work week in order to maximize
use of workers while sutdents are not present.
3. Will be allowed to schedule alternate off days as approved by the immediate Supervisor.
4. Will be required to work two days per week during Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Years
and Spring/Easter breaks as scheduled by the immediate Supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
COMPENSATION: Level 2 Schedule 2
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform skilled tasks in accordance with state and local codes and the standard practices of the trade.
- Accept responsibility for the quality and quantity or work produced.
- Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in work areas.
- Perform all types of work assigned by the foreman.
- Assist in the preparation of job estimates and recommended purchase of necessary supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by higher authority.
