POSITION: Coughlin Commons - Resource Desk Attendant

HOURS NEEDED PER WEEK: Hours per person may vary. Minimum 4 hours per week
HOURLY RATE (OR RANGE): $15 per hour

JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The term of appointment extends for one academic year. For positions offered to and accepted by a mid-year candidate and/or during summer months, the term of appointment shall be for any applicable remaining portion of the academic year or one academic semester, then contingent upon continued successful performance, ending after Commencement weekend in May (refer to Academic calendar for date). This approach also applies to summer positions, which may call for continuation and/or review of current employment status.
The RDA should expect to be regularly available on the following
- Sunday through Saturday 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM
- Holidays and Breaks (school closing)
- Available for monthly staff meetings, trainings, and in-services
- All Residence Life openings and closings (beginning and ending of each academic semester)
Resource Desk Attendant Responsibilities
- Approach your job responsibilities in a thoughtful and competent manner.
- Maintain a proactive approach to making students feel a part of the community, including but not limited to one-on-one interactions and providing good customer service to each resident.
- Be aware of and respond appropriately to potential problem situations within your area (Coughlin
Commons Lobby, Kitchen, and CCMPR), whether those be individual or staff problems, lack of respect for others, interpersonal conflicts, or violations of policies and procedures. Maintain a proactive approach in response to these concerns.
- Actively support other residence hall staff.
- Monitor entry point for residence halls to allow access to residents; check IDs
- Be an information resource and direct the students to the appropriate source
- Distribute guest passes to residents’ guests
- Sign in and out equipment for students
- Practice confidentiality regarding student data
- Attend all meetings and trainings
- Maintain a safe living environment for resident students
- Enforce and support The Office of Residence Life
- Performs other duties as requested, delegated or assigned
- Assist in check-in/out of residents

- Interact appropriately with students and university staff
- Knowledge of university offices and services
- May need to work during holidays and breaks
- Understand your role in managing your work schedule alongside your class schedule.
