Position Summary: 

The Brennan School of Business at Dominican University is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty Member to teach QUAN 201 – Business Statistics, a required course for all students completing the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Generally completed by undergraduate sophomores, the course covers descriptive statistics, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and regression.  
 
The course meets online, asynchronous for 15 weeks. The ideal candidate will be based in the Chicagoland area to engage directly with students. The adjunct faculty member may collaborate with senior departmental faculty to review and enhance course materials, case studies, and software specific to this course. 

Responsibilities: 

Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following: 
  • Adhering to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices 
  • Administering student evaluation, timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations. 
  • Grading weekly assignments, responding to student emails and phone calls promptly and providing feedback in a timely manner.  
  • Preparing course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to subject matter 
  • Meeting with students and hosting office hours  
  • Adhering to the goals and objectives of the course, including delivery of assessments to the Department Chair and senior faculty in the department 
  • Incorporating applied business examples and data-driven decision-making techniques into course instruction 
Required Qualifications: 
 
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.   
  • Demonstrated professional experience in using statistical, analytical, or data visualization software to interpret and communicate business insights 
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to apply statistical concepts to real-world business decision-making  
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in business analytics, data analysis, finance, operations, market research, or a related discipline 
  • Prior teaching, training, mentoring, or guest lecturing experience which demonstrates the ability to translate complex financial concepts for graduate-level students  
  • Experiencing using software such as Excel, Power BI, SPSS, Tableau, R, Python, or similar analytical tools  
  • Familiarity with instructional technology, including learning management systems such as Canvas  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse student body 
Physical Demands 
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times 
Salary and FLSA Status 
Adjunct faculty are compensated on a per-course basis. 
  • Salary: $3,000-$3,600 (depending on degree attained and experience, particularly university-level instructor-of-record experience). 
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, Part-Time (Adjunct Faculty)
