Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for overall performance of the bowling center, including sales, profitability, staffing, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence. You will oversee managers and staff, implement systems and procedures, and work closely with ownership to achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Financial Performance
- Drive sales, revenue, and profitability in alignment with ownership goals
- Manage labor, scheduling, and operating costs
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports (sales, labor, cash, events)
- Create and maintain operational procedures and best practices
- Ensure the facility is clean, organized, safe, and operating efficiently
Leadership & Team Development
- Directly supervise department managers and key staff
- Hire, train, coach, and mentor team members at all levels
- Conduct performance reviews and handle employee relations with professionalism
- Lead regular manager and staff meetings to address operations and improvements
- Build a positive, accountable, and high-energy work culture
Guest Experience
- Be present on the floor and accessible to guests
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Ensure consistent, friendly, and efficient service throughout the center
- Promote leagues, events, parties, and in-house specials
Scheduling & Staffing
- Create weekly and monthly schedules for management and staff
- Ensure proper staffing levels for leagues, events, and peak business hours
- Oversee timesheets and payroll accuracy
Cash Handling, Audits & Controls
- Oversee cash handling, drawers, refunds, and daily audits
- Track special events and large group bookings
- Identify and investigate discrepancies or operational issues
Safety, Compliance & Facility Oversight
- Enforce all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and local regulations
- Oversee loss prevention and inventory control
- Ensure equipment, lanes, and public areas are properly maintained
Qualifications
- 3 years of management experience in hospitality, entertainment, food & beverage, or retail
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Highly organized, dependable, and solution-oriented
- Comfortable managing busy, high-energy environments
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Active bowling center environment with loud noise levels and constant movement
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and remain mobile for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50–100 lbs with assistance when needed
