Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, construction plans, and technical drawings to accurately assemble piping systems.
- Install, assemble, and maintain pipes for various applications including plumbing, HVAC, fire sprinkler systems, and pipeline projects.
- Use hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, calipers, and tube benders to cut, weld (MIG, TIG, FCAW), solder, and fit pipes according to specifications.
- Perform welding tasks adhering to NFPA standards, ASME codes & standards, and local welding requirements to ensure durable joints.
- Measure materials precisely using calipers and perform basic math calculations for accurate pipe cutting and fitting.
- Follow safety regulations diligently by practicing power tool safety protocols and rigging procedures on construction sites.
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics to troubleshoot issues during installation or maintenance activities.
- Maintain compliance with NFPA standards for fire sprinkler fitting and pipeline safety while ensuring all work aligns with construction site protocols.
- Assist in the assembly of sprinkler systems and HVAC piping networks while adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Support ongoing maintenance activities by inspecting installed piping systems for leaks or defects and performing repairs as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding techniques along with soldering skills for diverse piping materials.
- Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, construction plans, and interpret technical drawings accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge of pipe threading, tube bending, pipe installation processes, and sprinkler system fitting.
- Experience with power tools including drills, grinders, pipe cutters, calipers, and rigging equipment in a construction environment.
- Knowledge of NFPA standards for fire protection systems as well as ASME codes & standards governing piping fabrication.
- Familiarity with plumbing systems, HVAC piping networks, pipeline installation practices and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations essential for precise measurements and material estimations.
- Construction site experience demonstrating safety awareness including power tool safety practices.
- Understanding of schematics related to mechanical systems such as sprinkler setups or HVAC configurations.
- Experience in manufacturing or construction environments involving pipe assembly or maintenance tasks.
