Billing Specialist

DTAC is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing processes, maintaining compliance with healthcare and behavioral health regulations, and supporting the financial health of our organization.

This is a Remote/Hybrid position, with expected occasional travel to our Chadds Ford, PA office!

The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, knowledge of healthcare billing practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with both our clinical and administrative teams. At DTAC, you’ll play a key role in making sure our services are supported by efficient and accurate financial operations, allowing us to continue serving our communities effectively. The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing and collecting payments for DTAC client-related services by submitting claims, following up on denied and resolving billing discrepancies to ensure successful reimbursement results.

Compensation: Starting at $50,000.00/Hourly role $24.03 an hour!

What You'll Need:

• Education: Minimum of High School Diploma
• Training and Experience: One to three years of previous billing experience in the mental health field, physical health billing experience accepted. Strong experience in billing and denial management with commercial insurance, Medicaid, Managed Medicaid plans required. Understanding and experience with coding, payer specific requirements, and healthcare billing cycle preferred.

What You'll Do:

• Track and maintain records of patient billing and billable items. Conducts audits of patient accounts and claims to ensure proper diagnosis, authorizations, and billing information have been captured accurately for clean claim submission
• Prepare and submit billings to all insurance companies, manage Medicaid’s, or other payers.
• Follow up on delinquent claims and past due invoices. Reviews and analyze denied claims and Explanation of benefits (EOBs) to identify the root cause of claim denials and rejections, and take appropriate action to resolve denied claims for payment of services rendered
• Ensuring management fee information collated, posted and reconciled.
• Promote a focus on continuous improvement for all medical billing procedures.
• Review patient records daily for accuracy, supply any missing information and ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations.
• Escalates billing reimbursement barriers to manager and payer contact as needed
• Documents clearly in billing systems for claims processing, aging accounts and other trends addressing AR activity
• Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail for all clients facing customers, insurance company representatives, internal company departments, and individual families as necessary.
• Anticipate the needs of others to ensure seamless and positive experiences.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and interact with patients, players, and internal staff
• Answer phones and greet visitors as needed.
• Follow professional standards and meet the requirements of local, state and federal regulations.
