Overview
The Person-Centered Support Staff (PCSS) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate and individualized support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting independence and ensuring their safety and well-being in various care settings such as their home and community. The PCSS will work closely with residents to assist them with daily activities and provide essential care while adhering to best practices in patient monitoring and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care by monitoring vital signs and observing changes in residents' health or behavior.
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities through direct support and engagement.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
- Prepare meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences while ensuring proper nutrition.
- Administer medications as prescribed while following care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans tailored to each resident's needs.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification are highly desirable.
- Experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Strong skills in patient observation and monitoring for changes in health status.
- Familiarity with home & community care practices, including hospice care and long-term care experience.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting residents with mobility challenges.
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and strategies for working with individuals experiencing memory loss.
- Proficiency in cooking nutritious meals that cater to individual dietary needs.
- Understanding of medication administration protocols and care plan implementation.
- Compassionate approach to caregiving, demonstrating patience and empathy towards residents' needs. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to enhancing the lives of those they serve through compassionate support and skilled caregiving practices.
