Bargaining Unit: Ancillary (178 days 7.0 hours per day)

Salary from $55,000 (Subject to verifications of Education and Explerience)

 

Position Summary:

The Early Childhood/ Part C to B/ Child Find Coordinator works closely with the Director of Exceptional Programs to coordinate the NM Pre-K program, the Part C to B transition, and Child Find for the district.

 

Supervision:

The coordinator works with a high level of independence under the general guidance of the Director of Exceptional Programs. The coordinators work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of the Taos Municipal Schools district policies and procedures, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards set forth in the collective bargaining agreement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides guidance and support for the NM Pre-K program at the elementary school level.
  2. Collaborates with community Pre-K programs and other support groups (ex-Paso a Paso).
  3. Understands and follows the NM FOCUS criteria for Pre-K programs.
  4. Co-evaluate the Pre-staff.
  5. Coordinates community child find events and hosts regular child find screening opportunities to identify and assist students in the community who may have a disability.
  6. Works with the community Family Infant Toddler (FIT) program for all C to B transitions.
  7. Coordinates identification and services for all 3-to-4-year-olds with identified disabilities in the Taos Municipal School and neighborhood Pre-K programs.
  8. Possess a deep understanding of special education timelines and federal indicators.
  9. Complies with, upholds, and enforces administrative directives and/or regulations, local school board policy, and state and federal regulations.
  10. Must perform all other miscellaneous job relates duties assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching license issued by NM PED.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the classroom and 2 years' experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of “client-centered” support and the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions, requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively, exercise judgment and creativity, organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Must have effective communication, computer, and interpersonal skills, have ability to learn and utilize new software programs as systems are upgraded.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Valid NM State Driver’s License.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the teacher may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during their duties. The teacher may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
  • May be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
