What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at DISTRICT WIDE?
The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2025-26 school year. The district is seeking candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and possess diverse professional experiences. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in these positions.
Qualifications:
- PA Teaching Certification or the ability to obtain a PA Emergency Certification (if not PA teacher certified, a bachelor's degree in any area is required for the emergency certification).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages.
- Ability to maintain classroom management.
- Flexibility and critical-thinking skills.
- Basic computer skills are recommended but not required.
- Patience.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Follow the lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, playground, and cafeteria.
- Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plans.
- Take classroom attendance.
