What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Accountant position at Distinct | North America?
Senior Tax Accountant | $85,000 – $105,000 | Roseville, CA (Hybrid)
Some firms treat a Senior Tax Accountant like a checkpoint.
A few years in, you prepare more, review a bit, and keep things moving.
This one treats it as a turning point.
The shift from doing the work… to actually understanding it.
You won’t just prepare returns here. You’ll dig into them. Corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, federal and multi-state. You’ll get into the detail, from book-to-tax adjustments through to provision support, and see how it all connects.
Because knowing how something works is useful.
Knowing why it works is what gets you promoted.
You’ll also be part of a team where developing others isn’t optional. It’s expected. You’ll guide juniors, review work, and be involved in how things get done, not just what gets done.
Busy season still happens. But it’s planned, not reactive.
Why this role is worth considering:
- Hybrid working with flexibility
- $85,000 – $105,000 depending on experience
- Broad exposure across individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates
- Involvement in provision work and audit interaction
- A team that values understanding over volume
What they’re looking for:
- 3–5 years in public accounting tax
- Experience with federal and multi-state returns
- Strong grasp of workpapers, compliance, and adjustments
- CPA or actively pursuing (Master’s in Tax a plus)
- Someone who can think things through and support those around them
Most roles teach you how to do the work.
Better ones teach you how to think about it.
