Discovery Church, Newton, NC is currently seeking a part-time licensed Mental Health Counselor.
Discovery Church’s Counseling Center is a place of hope for healing and restoration. We work from a biblical worldview, which values people in the light of the Gospel story. We are currently seeking a licensed professional counselor, who is compassionate and wants to make a meaningful impact in Christian caregiving to join our ministry.
Role Description: Provide Christ-centered counseling to individuals, couples, and families; Integrate biblical truth and the hope of Jesus appropriately within counseling sessions; Maintain ethical and professional clinical standards; Work collaboratively with pastoral and caring ministry staff; Maintain client confidentiality and proper documentation; Create healthy referral relationships when higher levels of care are needed; Participate in ministry meetings/check-ins as needed; Part-time schedule; In-person counseling preferred (telehealth optional if desired)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active and growing Christian faith
- Agreement with church statement of faith/values
- Licensed in North Carolina:
- LCMHC
- LCSW
- LMFT
- Experience in:
- Anxiety/depression
- Marriage counseling
- Grief/crisis care
- Trauma-informed care
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable serving within a church ministry environment
