Position Summary
The Contracted Clinical Counselor provides trauma-informed mental health and relapse prevention support services to residents and aftercare participants at Catherine’s House. This role focuses on assessment, stabilization, relapse prevention, and ongoing counseling support to promote recovery, wellness, and a return to self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Data collection for counseling utilization, aftercare outcomes and broader program needs
- Participate in intake/screening process support for prospective residents who report current mental health concerns, substance use history, or recent psychiatric hospitalizations
- Provide recommendations regarding appropriateness for program admission, program readiness and make recommendations to program team
- Provide relapse prevention services for residents who test positive for substances (including alcohol or marijuana) upon admission and voluntarily for individuals who self report (including gambling addiction)
- Complete wellness assessments for all residents to support individualized care planning and data collection , including, pre post survey, Ace and Phq-9
- Deliver individual counseling services utilizing trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches, and solution focused counseling
- Provide referrals for individuals requiring a higher level of care/make recommendations and referrals for children with developmental and behavioral health needs
- Facilitate biweekly group counseling/psychoeducational (Monday evenings) for residents.
- Monitor and support compliance with external outpatient mental health and/or substance use treatment providers
- Provide referrals for individuals requiring substance use assessment due to substance use policy violations
- Provide mental health support services to aftercare participants on a monthly basis as assigned
- Collaborate with program staff to support program needs/compliance in weekly clinical meeting
- No third party reimbursement or billing required
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in related field, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), LCSW, or equivalent licensure in North Carolina/ LCMHCS preferred
- Experience working with women, trauma, substance use, and/or housing instability preferred
- Strong assessment, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently in a contracted role while maintaining communication with program staff
Schedule & Compensation
Contract (1099), part-time. Flexible schedule based on program needs, including some evening availability (Monday groups). Compensation commensurate with experience.
