Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Healthcare Regulatory Associate to join the Healthcare Regulatory practice of a leading global Am Law firm in Washington, DC or New York (with a preference for Washington, DC). This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with experience advising healthcare and life sciences companies on complex regulatory and compliance matters.
The role offers the opportunity to work with healthcare providers, life sciences companies, digital health platforms, and investors on regulatory counseling, transactional diligence, compliance programs, and investigations within a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Responsibilities

Advise healthcare and life sciences clients on healthcare regulatory and compliance matters

Counsel clients on laws and regulations involving fraud and abuse, HIPAA, corporate practice of medicine, licensing, and reimbursement

Support healthcare transactions, including private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic investments

Conduct regulatory diligence and assist with structuring healthcare-related corporate transactions

Develop and advise on healthcare compliance programs and policies

Provide regulatory counseling to telehealth and digital health companies

Draft legal memoranda, regulatory analyses, and compliance documentation

Collaborate with cross-practice teams on complex healthcare regulatory matters
Qualifications

3–5 years of healthcare regulatory experience

Experience advising clients on healthcare compliance and regulatory frameworks

Experience supporting healthcare transactions, including private equity, M&A, or investment matters

Prior experience in a law firm environment required

Government experience with agencies such as CMS, OCR, or DOJ is a plus

Strong analytical, research, drafting, and communication skills

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials

Active admission to the DC or New York Bar
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a competitive compensation package with a salary range of approximately $260,000–$390,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The firm also provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth.
