Overview
Direct Counsel is partnering with a nationally recognized Am Law firm to identify a junior-to-mid-level associate for its Data Strategy, Security & Privacy team. This is a compelling opportunity for a litigator looking to build a practice at the intersection of privacy law, cybersecurity, and complex commercial litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in consumer class actions, mass arbitrations, and government enforcement actions involving data privacy and technology-related matters
- Draft and contribute to dispositive and procedural motions, including motions to dismiss, compel arbitration, transfer venue, and discovery-related motions
- Manage discovery processes, including preparing and responding to written discovery and working with client witnesses
- Prepare for and participate in mediations and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices on complex, multi-faceted litigation matters
- Take an active, hands-on role throughout all phases of litigation
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of litigation experience
- Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation strategy
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Experience with or exposure to:
- Dispositive and procedural motion practice
- Federal and California state courts and local rules
- Arbitration forums such as JAMS and AAA
- Discovery management and client interaction
- Prior experience or interest in privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, or a technical background is a plus
- Strong academic credentials
- Admission to the California Bar required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $235,000 – $310,000, depending on experience and qualifications
