Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 3–5 years of experience to join a nationally recognized litigation practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated, high-stakes commercial disputes while collaborating with experienced trial lawyers on complex matters across a variety of industries.
The ideal candidate will have significant commercial litigation experience, including practice before the Delaware Court of Chancery, and will be comfortable managing substantive aspects of litigation from inception through resolution.

While affiliated with a larger regional office, this position is physically based in Wilmington, Delaware.
Responsibilities
- Manage key aspects of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests and responses.
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategy.
- Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
- Collaborate closely with partners and clients on sophisticated litigation matters.
- Assist with all phases of litigation, including fact development, discovery, motion practice, and case management.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver strategic and practical legal solutions.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
- Active admission to the Delaware Bar.
- 3–5 years of commercial litigation experience.
- Experience litigating before the Delaware Court of Chancery.
- Demonstrated pretrial experience, including:
- Pleadings
- Motion practice
- Discovery
- Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining excellent client service and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bankruptcy litigation and/or intellectual property litigation.
- Law review, judicial clerkship, or comparable academic and professional distinction.
- Strong organizational, project management, and case management skills.
- Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities.
