Position Summary
The Youth Ministry Coordinator plans and leads youth ministry initiatives for elementary, middle and high school students, focusing on building relationships, fostering discipleship, and engaging youth in the life of the Church.
This position coordinates parish and diocesan youth events, creating opportunities for prayer, service, and community.

Qualifications
Knowledge
- Practicing Catholic in good standing
- Experience in youth ministry, education, or mentoring preferred
- Understanding of Catholic teachings and youth formation

- Event planning and organizational skills
- Leadership and ability to work with volunteers
- Flexibility in schedule (evenings, weekends, retreats)
Duties & Responsibilities
I. Youth Ministry Programming
- Plan and implement approximately 8–10 youth ministry events annually
- Organize activities such as retreats, service projects, social events, and faith nights
- Create opportunities for prayer, catechesis, and community building
- Work with youth, parents and volunteers to plan and create events.
II. Diocesan Collaboration
- Coordinate participation in diocesan youth events, rallies, and conferences
- Promote diocesan opportunities to parish families
- Serve as liaison between parish and diocesan youth ministry
III. Youth Engagement
- Build relationships with youth and foster a welcoming environment
- Encourage participation in parish life, especially the Mass and sacraments
- Provide mentorship and accompaniment to young people
IV. Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit and support adult volunteers and chaperones
- Ensure proper Safe Environment compliance for all volunteers
- Provide guidance and leadership for youth ministry teams
V. Communication & Promotion
- Communicate regularly with youth and parents
- Promote events through bulletins, social media, and parish communications
- Maintain event calendars and registration information
VI. Parish Integration
- Collaborate with Religious Education and parish staff
- Encourage youth involvement in liturgical ministries and parish service
- Support parish-wide events when appropriate
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the pastor.

The employee works primarily in an office setting but may regularly sets up and take down occupied spaces used for religious education and youth events. Employees may stand, walk, bend, kneel, or lift, push, or carry up to 25 pounds. The role requires regular use of hands, talking, hearing, and visual abilities, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Typical Working Conditions:
The person in this position will work primarily in an office environment, independently, with occasional collaboration as needed. The role may require travel to off-site parish or community youth events, including retreats and other activities on evenings and weekends. Flexible hours may be needed to accommodate longer workdays or special events.
Nature of Supervision Received:
Receives minimal supervision. Incumbent must establish priorities and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.
Judgment Exercised/Decisions Made:
Requires independent judgment and decision-making in moderately complex situations. Must work effectively with youth, staff, clergy, volunteers and parishioners, exercising tact, integrity, and appropriate boundaries while providing guidance and support.
Financial Responsibility:
Responsible for effective use of budgeted resources.
