Position Overview
The Energy Management Engineer supports a large portfolio of churches, schools, and institutional buildings across Brooklyn and Queens.
The focus of this role is to ensure building assets operate efficiently with respect to energy usage, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability goals. The position supports approximately 180 parish corporations and plays a key role in achieving compliance with NYC energy and emissions regulations.
This position is structured as follows:
• 50% – Compliance with NYC Local Laws and Building Codes
• 50% – Program and Project Management, including Local Law 152 and 2030 emissions targets
Core Responsibilities
Compliance & Regulatory Management
• Manage compliance with NYC Local Laws and evolving building code requirements
• Support implementation of NYC Climate Mobilization Act
• Coordinate filings with City, State, and Federal agencies
• Work with parishes, tenants, and consultants to ensure accurate submissions
Energy & Portfolio Management
• Evaluate buildings on NYC Covered Building Lists
• Review benchmarking data and resolve discrepancies with NYC Department of Buildings and NYC Department of Finance.
• Develop building-by-building energy strategies
• Assess financial and operational risks to prioritize projects
Program & Project Support
• Manage Local Law 152 gas piping inspection program and/or other similar portfolio-wide compliance programs
• Coordinate energy audits and facility assessments
• Track compliance and energy performance data
• Maintain accurate records and reporting systems
Collaboration & Coordination
• Work with Rocklyn Real Estate, Facilities, and Construction teams
• Coordinate with vendors and consultants
• Support additional initiatives based on organizational needs
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
• Experience in energy management or facilities preferred
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication skills
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in MS Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong data tracking and reporting skills
• Ability to travel frequently to properties throughout Brooklyn and Queens
• Familiarity with benchmarking platforms a plus
Salary : $85,000 - $115,000
