The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares his mission with them and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. John Neumann Catholic Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position. The person in this role must possess a strong desire to support the growth of our parish through engaging events and ensuring the right volunteers. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Parish Engagement.

Requirements
Essential Job Duties:
- As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St John Neumann Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
- Foster an environment of community through organized and well-planned programs, projects, and special events
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of Volunteers, including logistics, catering, volunteering, and space.
- Develop and manage volunteer budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial goals.
- Collaborate with Parish Experience to understand their vision and objectives, providing expert advice and recommendations.
- Initiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and venues to secure the best terms and pricing for review.
- Collaborate with volunteer promotion and marketing strategies, utilizing various channels to maximize attendance and engagement.
- Ensure that all Volunteer materials, such as invitations, programs, and signage, are prepared and delivered on time by collaborative efforts with Marketing Department.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases
- Organize orientation sessions and training programs
- Ensure volunteers understand roles, policies, and expectations
- Act as the primary contact for volunteer inquiries
- Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment
- Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions
- Collaborate with staff to identify volunteer needs
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop unique Volunteer concepts and solutions.
- Proficiency in project management software and Volunteer planning tools such as ASANA, MS Planner, MS Project, Monday.com, Unison, Ministry Scheduler Pro, CANVA, and Ministry Platform preferred
- A minimum of one year’s related experience required
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and safety standards
- Serve as a staff liaison for volunteer led ministries as assigned by supervisor
- Bachelor’s Degree
- A practicing Catholic in good standing
- Ability to adjust in a fast-paced work environment with a positive, solution-oriented attitude
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to design and nurture an environment that allows for inclusivity, creativity, and a sense of belonging
- Open to feedback and a desire to improve ministry offerings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to stay organized and be attentive to details
- Understands Relational Ministry - prioritizing people and investing time to grow authentic relationships with all those involved in the ministry
- Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
- All employees of the Parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
- The Parish is an at-will employer.
- All buildings and vehicles owned by the Parish are tobacco free.
- Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- Due to the nature of the role, evenings and weekend work is required during some parish events.
- Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech, including Roman Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.
- Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
