Position Summary
The Part-Time Custodian/Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining a
clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the school campus and church
facilities. The person in this position performs routine custodial duties, assists with basic
building maintenance, and helps prepare, monitor, and maintain spaces for school,
church, community, and neighborhood activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas,
and other facility spaces. - Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and empty trash and recycling.
- Clean and restock restrooms and other areas as needed.
- Clean windows, doors, fixtures, and other surfaces as necessary.

Assist with setting up and taking down rooms, furniture, and equipment for
school, church, meetings, and special events. - Monitor facilities for cleanliness, safety, and general maintenance needs.

Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, minor repairs,
and other routine upkeep as appropriate. -
Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or needed repairs to the
appropriate supervisor. -
Maintain custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be
reordered. -
Follow proper procedures for the use and storage of cleaning products and
equipment. -
Assist with snow/ice removal, grounds upkeep, or other seasonal tasks as
needed. - Provide additional custodial or facility support as requested.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach regularly.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull supplies, equipment, furniture, and other items.
- Lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds when necessary.

Perform repetitive cleaning motions such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and
wiping. - Work on ladders or step stools when necessary and appropriate.
- Work around cleaning products and follow required safety precautions.
Qualifications

Previous custodial, maintenance, or cleaning experience preferred but not
required. - Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Able to communicate effectively with staff, faculty, and church personnel.

Must be dependable and willing to work additional hours or adjust the schedule
when facility needs require it. -
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in a
church and school environment. - Ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute to a positive environment.
Schedule & Flexibility
The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility is
important, as occasional additional hours may be needed for special events, building
needs, emergencies, or other facility-related activities.
Work Environment
This position works throughout church and school facilities and may occasionally
require outdoor work. The employee should be comfortable working independently and
around students, staff, parishioners, visitors, and volunteers.
