Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Controller to lead and oversee our Managed Accounting Services (MAS) department. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of client engagements, supervising accounting staff, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and serving as a strategic advisor to business clients across a variety of industries.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple client relationships in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting & Advisory

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple client engagements, including:

oGeneral ledger management

oMonth-end and year-end close

oFinancial statement preparation

oCash flow management

oBudgeting and forecasting

oAccount reconciliations

Review and analyze financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.

Serve as the primary financial contact and trusted advisor for assigned clients.

Provide strategic insights and recommendations to help clients improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Assist clients with process improvement, internal controls, and accounting system optimization.

Team Leadership & Management

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff within the Managed Accounting Services team.

Review work performed by staff accountants and senior accountants to ensure quality and timeliness.

Manage workflow, project deadlines, and client deliverables across multiple engagements.

Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.

Operational Excellence

Develop and maintain standardized accounting procedures and best practices.

Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with tax and advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and technology solutions.

Participate in business development activities, including client onboarding and relationship expansion.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within public accounting, outsourced accounting, or client advisory services.

Prior experience supervising accounting teams and managing client relationships.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Proficiency with accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Xero, or similar systems.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
