Job Opportunity: Senior Cypress QA Engineer (Contract)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Type: Contract (12 Months)
We are seeking a Senior Cypress Automation Engineer to join a high-impact QA Automation team working on a consumer credit platform. This role is ideal for someone who can design scalable automation frameworks, mentor team members, and leverage AI tools like Copilot and Claude to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated test scripts using Cypress and TypeScript across functional, regression, and API testing scenarios
- Build and maintain scalable, maintainable end-to-end automation frameworks aligned with best practices
- Perform API testing (REST/GraphQL), including payload validation, authentication, and error handling
- Write and optimize SQL queries for backend validation and test data management
- Utilize AI tools (Copilot, Claude, or similar) to enhance test generation and efficiency
- Collaborate with development, product, and QA teams to translate requirements into test scenarios
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and best practices
- Identify, track, and validate defects with clear documentation
- Ensure CI/CD integration and maintain automation pipelines
- Contribute to performance and security testing initiatives where applicable
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in QA automation
- Strong hands-on experience with Cypress
- Proficiency in TypeScript (preferred) or JavaScript
- Solid experience with API testing (REST APIs, Postman, or similar tools)
- Working knowledge of SQL for data validation
- Experience with Git or similar version control systems
- Strong understanding of functional, regression, and end-to-end testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Playwright or other modern frameworks
- Exposure to AI-powered tools such as Copilot or Claude
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Familiarity with OWASP and security testing concepts
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Basic knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or Lighthouse
- Strong communication and mentoring skills
