Job Description
Client is seeking a Harness Technician to support the fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, installation, and rework of flight and non-flight electrical harnesses used on spacecraft and in-space transportation systems.
This role is responsible for manufacturing high-reliability aerospace harnesses and cable assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring schematics, IPC standards, work instructions, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with high-reliability electrical assemblies, and comfortable working in cleanroom or controlled production environments where workmanship and quality are critical to mission success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manufacture flight and non-flight wire harnesses for aerospace applications.
- Cut, strip, tin, crimp, solder, terminate, splice, lace, and label wiring assemblies.
- Assemble complex cable harnesses from engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
- Install backshells, strain reliefs, heat shrink, shielding, and overbraid.
- Fabricate coaxial, twisted pair, discrete wire, ribbon cable, and power harnesses.
- Perform connector assembly, including D-Sub, Micro-D, Nano-D, circular, RF, and other space-rated connectors.
- Perform continuity, isolation, and Hi-Pot testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and validate harnesses against schematics.
- Support spacecraft functional testing and document test results.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final acceptance inspections.
- Verify workmanship to IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum requirements.
- Inspect crimps, solder joints, shielding, strain relief, and cable routing.
- Support material review board activities and corrective actions.
- Rework damaged harnesses, connectors, contacts, pins, solder joints, and wire sections as needed.
- Diagnose intermittent electrical faults and support root cause investigations.
Qualifications:
- 4 to 8 years of aerospace or high-reliability electrical assembly experience.
- Experience manufacturing complex wire harnesses.
- Experience with flight hardware preferred.
- Strong crimping and soldering skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience with connector assembly.
- Familiarity with ESD requirements.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent workmanship and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- IPC certification highly desirable.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Additional Preferred Experience:
- Spacecraft harness manufacturing.
- Satellite integration experience.
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
- IPC J-STD-001 certification.
- NASA workmanship experience.
- ESA workmanship experience.
- MIL-STD harness manufacturing.
