Brief Description
Under general supervision, the Principal ATE Architect & Technical Lead defines, develops, and maintains automated production test systems and architecture for embedded electronic products. This role establishes scalable test platforms, ensures product quality through robust test coverage, and supports manufacturing efficiency while meeting design, operational, and cost constraints. This role also provides technical leadership and mentorships to a small team of test engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in architecture and system development, including support and evolution of existing automated test platforms.

This role also provides technical leadership and mentorships to a small team of test engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in architecture and system development, including support and evolution of existing automated test platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in electronics production test engineering
- Strong experience developing automated test systems in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with LabVIEW and/or VB.NET for test application development
- Experience integrating test systems with automated handling equipment and production environments
- Strong understanding of mixed-signal (analog and digital) circuit troubleshooting
- Experience with common instrumentation (power supplies, DMMs, DAQ, communication interfaces, etc.)
- Experience with automated production tests systems, including Teradyne, 6TL, or similar ATE platforms preferred
- Familiarity with communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, etc.
- Experience with version control, debugging tools, and structured software development practices
- Ability to develop technical documentation including system architecture, test flows, and diagrams
- Experience influencing product design for testability (DFT) preferred
- Familiarity with database-driven test systems or MES integration a plus
- Experience with Jira or similar tools a plus
Test Systems & Software:
- Designs, develops, maintains, tests, and debugs automated production test systems
- Develops modular, maintainable, and reusable test software architectures
- Standardizes test frameworks across multiple plateforms and product lines
- Supports and enhances existing automated production test systems, including Teradyne- and 6TL-based platforms
- Implements data logging, traceability and integration with production systems
- Analyzes product requirements and translates them into test strategies and coverage
- Supports new product introduction (NPI) through development and deployment of production test solutions
- Participates in design reviews to improve testability and reduce production risk
- Works closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and quality
- Troubleshoots test systems and product failures to determine root cause
- Optimizes test time, throughput, and first-pass yield
- Defines requirements and supports design of production test fixtures and interface hardware
- Troubleshoots analog and digital circuits at board and system level
- Ensures test system reliability through robust hardware design and integration
- Supports evaluation and integration of test instrumentation and equipment
- Improves fixture repeatability, maintainability, and serviceability
- Provides technical leadership and oversight to small internal team and external contractors developing test fixtures and software
- Reviews designs and establishes standards to ensure long-term maintainability
- Meets deadlines while conforming to DMP quality standards
- Protects operation by keeping information confidential
- Acknowledges responsibility to satisfy the customer, reduce cycle time, and eliminate waste
- Observes company policies. Continuously strives to improve processes and increase efficiency while maintaining conformance to requirements
