Job Description
The NPI Test Technician Level II supports the testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical products during prototype and pilot build stages. This role works closely with Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality to execute test procedures, document findings, and help refine test methods and work instructions. The ideal candidate has hands-on testing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to support the transition of new products from engineering development to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform functional, performance, and reliability testing on prototype and early-stage units following established test procedures.
- Use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and data logging tools to execute test plans and record accurate results.
- Assist in troubleshooting and identifying component, wiring, and assembly issues to support root cause analysis.
- Interpret and review engineering schematics, basic wiring diagrams, test instructions, and build documentation.
- Document defects, test failures, and improvement recommendations in accordance with DDI procedures.
- Support Engineering with execution of Engineering Change Requests (ECR/ECO) including retesting and documentation updates.
- Provide feedback on test procedures and prototype assembly documentation to improve clarity and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality in pilot builds and NPI launch activities.
- Maintain test logs, records, and calibration compliance for test equipment and fixtures.
- Help train Test Technician Level I team members on test processes, documentation, and safety practices.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework or certification in electronics, mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in product testing, troubleshooting, or technical support environment.
- Working knowledge of electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and test documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with accurate documentation habits.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Basic computer skills for documentation, test logging, and communication.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
