Position
Digi International is seeking a Junior/Senior-level undergraduate intern to collaborate with our engineering team on the design, development, certifying and debugging of embedded hardware for Silicon Labs–based modules within the Digi XBee family of wireless products.
In this role, the intern will contribute to new product development, verification and certification work. The position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative environment, including exposure to the software and test engineering teams.
What You Will Do
• Use RF lab equipment including network analyzers, spectrum analyzer, RF signal generators, oscilloscopes and power supplies to validate performance of new hardware designs
• Assist in building Python-based test scripts to control modules during certification testing
• develop automated Python testing scripts for validation testing of new hardware designs
• prepare customer samples as needed
• use solder skills while optimizing hardware designs
Who You Are and What You Bring
• Junior or Senior undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated understanding of transmission lines and basic electrical fields concepts.
• Basic understanding of embedded systems concepts, including serial interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C), GPIO, and timing considerations
• Familiarity with debugging techniques and tools, with the ability to approach problems methodically and identify root causes
• Ability to program in Python
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly describe technical problems, ask thoughtful questions, and incorporate feedback
Desired But Not Required
• Experience with network and spectrum analyzers
• Familiarity with rf microprocessors
• familiarity with antenna operation and performance measures.
