Role and Responsibilities
This listing is for a full-time Associate Attorney position within the Firm’s Class Action practice group. Attorneys in this group represent individuals in large-scale class action lawsuits against powerful entities, with a strong history of securing significant settlements and verdicts. The team handles a wide range of complex class action cases, from consumer protection to product liability.
The Class Action Associate will be responsible for managing and litigating class action cases, conducting legal research and analysis, drafting motions and legal documents, and representing clients in court. This role requires expertise in class certification, settlement negotiations, and a strategic mindset to handle complex, high-stakes litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience and a commitment to achieving favorable outcomes for class members.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage and litigate class action cases from inception to resolution, including overseeing case strategy and progress.
- Conduct extensive legal research and analysis to support case arguments and motions.
- Lead the briefing of pivotal motions such as class certification, Daubert, and summary judgment.
- Manage and oversee the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, reviewing documents, and coordinating with experts.
- Communicate regularly with clients, class members, and experts to keep them informed and engaged throughout the case.
- Take and defend depositions of class representatives, other fact witnesses, and experts to gather key information and support case arguments.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple cases simultaneously with minimal supervision and maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with a legal team to develop strategies and ensure efficient case management.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of class action laws, rules, and procedures, including class certification and settlement processes.
- Strong litigation skills, with the ability to manage complex cases from inception through trial or settlement.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting abilities for motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Experience managing and leading a legal team.
- Effective communication skills, both in court and when interacting with clients, experts, and class members.
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to develop and implement case strategies, anticipate legal challenges, and adapt to evolving case dynamics.
- Ability to openly receive constructive feedback on work products with professionalism and confidence.
Education and Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree: Must have a law degree from an accredited law school, with a strong academic record preferred.
- Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s), in good standing with the state bar.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in complex litigation, with a focus on class actions, mass torts, or large-scale legal matters.
- Proven experience in managing class action lawsuits, including expertise in class certification, settlement negotiations, and communication with class members.
What DiCello Levitt Offers
Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 annually
- Starting salary is dependent on experience and location.
