What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Center Floor Supervisor position at Dexter Group?
Lead the Floor. Move the Mission.
You arrive to the warehouse with a plan: scan the WMS dashboard, spot priority waves, and position the team for success. You brief associates on the day’s goals, assign roles across picking, packing, staging, loading, receiving, and replenishment, and jump in where you’re needed—coaching, removing roadblocks, and keeping quality high.
What you’ll do
- Operational leadership
- Coordinate activities for warehouse associates and align tasks to workload priorities.
- Coach for performance, track productivity, and support onboarding and training for new hires.
- Warehouse operations
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other MHE as needed.
- Ensure orders are picked precisely and dispatched on time.
- Oversee inbound receiving: unloading, verification, and put-away.
- Drive cycle counts and full physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies with supervisors.
- Safety & compliance
- Champion OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety walk-throughs; report hazards, violations, and equipment concerns.
- Enforce proper PPE use and safe handling practices.
- Quality & continuous improvement
- Spot process gaps and recommend better ways of working.
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers to optimize workflow.
- Monitor facility and equipment status; escalate maintenance needs.
- Communication & reporting
- Share priorities, updates, and concerns with the supervisor.
- Complete logs, checklists, and required reports with accuracy.
- Participate in handoff meetings to ensure seamless continuity.
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Experience as a lead/senior associate or acting lead is preferred.
- Comfort with WMS platforms and RF scanners.
- Ability to operate or learn MHE; forklift certification is a plus.
