Network Engineer – Field Support
Location: Riverview, FL (Primary Office)

Role Overview
The Network Engineer – Field Support is a hands‑on, onsite role responsible for maintaining and supporting network infrastructure across multiple industrial facilities. This position focuses on physical network equipment, onsite troubleshooting, and field‑based support rather than remote monitoring or purely design work.
The engineer will work closely with a small network team and external partners to ensure reliable connectivity across operational sites that vary in size and working conditions.
Environment
- Supports multiple facilities including industrial plants and mining sites.
- Environments range from clean, modern facilities to harsh industrial locations.
- The organization operates a Cisco‑centric network environment, including:
- Cisco switches and wireless access points
- Check Point firewalls
- Poly video conferencing devices
Team Structure
- The network team consists of three engineers, with this role serving as an additional team member.
- A shared fleet vehicle is used for travel between facilities.
- The role requires close coordination with:
- Internal network and infrastructure teams
- A Managed Service Provider (MSP)
Travel & Onsite Expectations
- Daily onsite work begins at the primary office location, where the fleet vehicle is accessed.
- Responsibilities include:
- Supporting all operational facilities
- Visiting multiple sites in a single day as needed
- Traveling up to approximately 60 miles to the furthest facility
- Training is provided for operating fleet vehicles, including access to industrial and mining locations.
- A TWIC card is required for site access and can be obtained after onboarding.
- Candidates must be comfortable working in non‑office environments that may be physically demanding, noisy, or outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Infrastructure Support
- Perform structured cabling cleanup, cable management, labeling, and documentation.
- Replace failed or aging network switches and inspect cabling for faults.
- Configure, deploy, and validate new network setups, replacing legacy or damaged infrastructure.
- Conduct post‑deployment testing to confirm connectivity and stability.
- Replace and support wireless access points, often ceiling‑mounted.
Field Support & User Assistance
- Provide onsite user support and basic troubleshooting guidance to internal staff.
- Support and maintain video conferencing systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve field‑related network connectivity issues.
- Coordinate daily tasks and escalations with the MSP and internal IT teams.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven field‑based network support experience, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, mining, or similar environments.
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Cisco routing and switching
- Cisco wireless infrastructure
- Check Point firewalls
- Ability to replace, deploy, configure, and test onsite network hardware.
- Comfortable working independently in remote locations while collaborating with internal teams and vendors.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work in physically demanding environments.
