Receptionist / Legal Secretary
Join Our Criminal Defense Team
We are a small, client-focused criminal defense law firm seeking a professional, organized, and compassionate Receptionist / Legal Secretary to serve as the first point of contact for our clients and provide administrative support to our attorneys.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, communicates effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and confidentiality are essential.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls and greet clients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Schedule consultations, court appearances, and client meetings
- Maintain attorney calendars and manage appointments
- Open and maintain client files and case records
- Prepare, proofread, and organize legal documents and correspondence
- Scan, copy, file, and upload documents into case management systems
- Communicate with clients, courts, law enforcement agencies, and other legal professionals
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes
- Assist with client intake and gathering necessary information and documents
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client matters
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a law office, professional office, or administrative support role preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy office environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to interact with clients who may be experiencing stressful or emotionally difficult situations
- Experience with legal software or case management systems is a plus

The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, and motivated to provide exceptional service to clients during challenging times. We value professionalism, integrity, discretion, and a positive attitude. Criminal defense experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
Position is for 30-40 hours/week, and must be available to work full Fridays.
Compensation & Benefits
