What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at DEVON PREPARATORY SCHOOL INC?
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and record journal entries in the accounting system on a regular basis
Reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly against external statements and
internal records
Ensure adherence to financial regulations, accounting standards, and school
policies
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for
improvement
Support the annual audit process by coordinating with external auditors and
preparing required documentation
Assist with tuition billing and collections, including tracking payment plans and
financial aid disbursements
Help develop and maintain internal controls to protect financial assets
Collaborate on special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by the
Chief Financial Officer
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within a
nonprofit or educational environment
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Word; experience with
FACTS Tuition Management and Paycom is a plus
Strong understanding of nonprofit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
(GAAP)
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage
multiple priorities and meet deadlines
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
