DePaul College Prep, located in Chicago, Illinois, is searching for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer to assist our Head Athletic Trainer. Previous Athletic Trainer experience is preferred but not required based on previously held professional positions or educational background. In this role, and with the help and supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will oversee the care and rehabilitation of athletes during practice and competition coverage. Other responsibilities include field and venue setup, assessments, documentation, and communication with team physicians, physical therapists, parents, and school representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Athletic Training or related field.
- Able to obtain, or currently hold, a license as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) in the state of Illinois.
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.
- Must be extremely well organized and highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Direction and communication of care.
- Perform injury evaluations of student-athletes.
- Provide appropriate medical treatment to injured or ill student-athletes.
- Responsible for rehabilitation on athletic-related injuries.
- Provide first aid and emergency care when necessary.
- Refer student-athletes to appropriate medical facilities, including assisting with scheduling student-athletes for medical appointments if necessary.
- Attend home games and practices for assigned teams.
- Work evening and weekend hours as assigned.
- Be flexible with schedule changes while following the given clinic and sports coverage schedule.
- Communicate with team physicians regarding treatment and follow-up care of student-athletes.
- Document injury reports, progress notes, and team physician doctor's clinic visits in a timely and thorough manner.
- Communicate on a daily basis with coaches regarding the status of their student-athletes.

SALARY RANGE
$47,000 - $57,000 per year, depending on education and experience.
