Position Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the care, prevention and rehabilitation of injuries for student athletes. Provide game and practice coverage.

Responsible for the evaluation and assessment of injuries and illness, administer treatment and provides care, prevention and rehabilitative services for student-athletes. Additionally, provide practice and competitive event coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer treatment and provide post-surgery rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Instruct athletes on injury prevention.
  • Administer game and practice activities including taping and stretching of athletes.
  • Provide medical coverage of athletic games and practices. Assess injuries and give treatment.
  • Act as liaison between student athletes, parents, doctors, coaches, and athletic department.
  • Research, assess and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Adhere to all University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or a related field and a minimum of two years experience are required.
  • National Athletic Trainers’ Association certification and State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation license required. Knowledge of Conference rules and regulations.
  • CPR and safety certifications.
  • Direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.
  • Knowledge of MS office applications.
  • Effective communication skills.
