Under close supervision of the Senior Engineer, Water Resources, in a trainee capacity, and with guidance from a designated lead person, the Incumbent will assist in the organization and maintaining of contract specifications and drawings, and collect, coordinate, and update engineering drawings using a PC and AUTOCADD programs. Assists in field inspections of facilities and equipment and prepares clear and concise engineering reports.

All applicants for Student Assistant positions must meet the following departmental eligibility requirements:

 

  1. Enrolled in nine (9) semester/eight (8) quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students.  
  2. Achieved a 2.0 grade point average in the most recently completed academic term.
  3. Declared a major related to the duties of the advertised position and enrolled in coursework required for that major.

 

Student Assistant employees are paid hourly and are limited to 1500 hours per 12 consecutive months. Proof of application for, or enrollment in, a college curriculum preparing for upper division status in an engineering, architectural or landscape architectural curriculum leading to a bachelor's or advanced degree is required. Must be able to work during the school year and during summer and winter breaks.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Seeking candidates with experience using AUTOCADD and Microsoft Office software, and proficiency in writing. This position requires the incumbent to work cooperatively with others; maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance; and exercise good judgment

Salary : $38,002 - $58,573
