The Office of Communication, Education and Outreach (OCEO) is looking for a lead administrative and project management expert to support staff conducting education and outreach activities. This highly independent role is responsible for managing a broad range of complex administrative and operational functions to ensure the smooth execution of OCEO programs and strategic initiatives. Key duties include applying project management strategies, monitoring and analyzing budgets, coordinating procurement and contracts, supporting personnel actions and hiring, evaluating policy impacts and communicating compliance requirements to staff, leading special administrative projects, and managing various office operations and planning activities. Assignments often span diverse subject areas, requiring strong networking, organizational, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills. As a recognized authority on OCEO’s administrative functions, this position collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners across and beyond CDFW to fulfill its responsibilities. This position is required to perform some public-facing outreach and education functions.

Working Conditions

The Office of Communication, Education and Outreach works both indoors and outdoors, conducting field work and outreach activities. This position may be required to participate in both indoor and outdoor outreach events up to 15% of the time. Up to 10% travel may be required for special projects or outreach events.

Special Requirements

Ability to use a computer most of the workday both for projects and meetings. Ability to interpret color, design and layout nuances, and ability to interpret video and sound. Involves being stationary at a desk most of the time but may involve moving to different locations throughout the workday. Attend meetings and training sessions, work with staff throughout the department to complete work assignments. Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time and wear a CDFW uniform for public events.

Must be able to communicate with the public through written and spoken word. This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License. Must maintain a clean driving
