What are the responsibilities and job description for the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER I position at Department of FISCal?
The ITM I will serve as the Manager of Security Operations within the Enterprise Security Services Office of the Information Technology Division (ITD).
As the chief of the Security Operations Section (SOS), the ITM I is fully responsible for organizing, planning, and directing all activities in the section. The SOS is responsible for developing and implementing FI$Cal’s information security policies, planning and providing security awareness training for staff, planning and conducting information security tests, identifying and addressing information security risks and vulnerabilities, and developing and implementing the information security risk management program. The SOS is also responsible for conducting information security audits, identifying and implementing security analytics, coordinating independent security assessments, and maintaining the Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM). The section works with other ITD teams and FI$Cal divisions to carry out the actions listed in the POAM and reduce information security risks.
In this management role, the ITM I serves as an information security subject matter expert and is responsible for reviewing and implementing activities related to regulatory compliance and risk management. This work protects data confidentiality and privacy rights and ensures the integrity and availability of FI$Cal’s information systems.
Although the duties for this position are primarily focused in the Information Security Engineering domain, the ITM I may be assigned work in other domains as needed.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. At FI$Cal, we currently offer a remote-centered position with the flexibility of telework up to three days per week. In-office attendance is mandatory on designated days and is subject to change. Our office is located at 2000 Evergreen Street, Sacramento, CA. Candidates residing outside of California are welcome to interview, but proof of California residency is required before appointment. Please note, relocation and commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
