Tax Manager

Build the Future of an Integrated Tax Practice within a Wealth Management Firm

Location: Denver, CO (In Office)

Position Type: Full-Time

About Us

Denver Wealth Family Office is a growing, independent family office dedicated to helping successful individuals, families, and business owners make better financial decisions through integrated planning. Our clients value long-term relationships, thoughtful advice, and proactive planning over transactional services.

As our tax practice continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced CPA who wants more than another busy-season job. This is an opportunity to help build and shape a modern tax practice that works alongside financial advisors to deliver strategic tax planning, not just annual tax compliance.

If you enjoy solving complex tax issues, developing client relationships, and helping create systems that improve both the client and employee experience, we'd like to meet you.

Position Overview

The Tax Manager will play a key leadership role in our expanding tax practice. You will oversee tax preparation and review, collaborate with financial advisors on year-round tax planning strategies, and help establish scalable processes that support continued growth.

This position offers meaningful influence over the direction of the practice and is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, mentoring professionals, and creating exceptional client experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for:
  • Individuals
  • S Corporations
  • Trusts and Estates
  • Partnerships (occasionally)
  • C Corporations (occasionally)
  • Develop proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors to integrate tax planning into comprehensive financial planning.
  • Conduct client meetings and explain tax strategies in clear, understandable language.
  • Review complex tax situations and research technical issues.
  • Develop and improve internal workflows, procedures, and quality control standards.
  • Assist in selecting and implementing technology that enhances efficiency and client service.
  • Mentor and support future tax staff as the practice grows.
  • Help establish a culture focused on excellence, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active CPA/EA license.
  • Four or more years of public/client facing tax experience.
  • Strong knowledge of individual, trust, partnership, and business taxation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience reviewing tax returns and managing multiple deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.
  • Familiarity with the CCH suite of products.
  • Familiarity with tax planning strategies beyond compliance.
  • Experience with tax research and planning software.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Interest in helping grow and improve a developing tax practice.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

Unlike many public accounting firms, our goal is not simply to complete tax returns.

We believe tax preparation is the foundation—but tax planning creates the greatest value for our clients.

You'll work directly with experienced financial advisors in a collaborative environment where taxes, investments, retirement planning, estate planning, and business planning work together to help clients make better decisions.

Rather than fitting into an established bureaucracy, you'll have the opportunity to influence the direction of our tax practice, improve systems, and help support a premier integrated advisory firm.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience, including:

  • Competitive base salary - range: $80k-$130K
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Continuing Professional Education (CPE) support
  • Professional licensing reimbursement
  • Flexible work environment
  • Leadership and professional development opportunities

Future advancement opportunities may be available for individuals interested in helping lead the continued growth of the practice.

Our Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about helping clients—not just preparing returns.
  • Curious and committed to continuous learning.
  • Interested in building something meaningful.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Comfortable taking ownership and improving processes.
  • Motivated by long-term relationships rather than transactional work.
  • Excited about contributing to a growing family office where your ideas and leadership will have a lasting impact.

If you're looking for an opportunity to combine technical tax expertise with strategic planning and help shape the future of a growing practice, we'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
