Tax Associate (Practice Management Track)

Build the Future of an Integrated Tax & Wealth Advisory Practice

  • Location: Denver, CO (In-Office)
  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • Compensation: $80,000 – $130,000 base salary performance bonuses (depending on experience and credentials)

About Us

Denver Wealth Family Office is a growing, independent family office. We help successful families and business owners make better financial decisions through integrated planning. Our clients value long-term relationships and proactive planning over transactional compliance.

As our tax practice expands, we are seeking a highly organized, ambitious Tax Associate who wants to learn how a modern tax practice runs from the inside out. This isn't just a back-office data entry job—this is a strategic position designed for someone who aspires to lead and run a tax practice in the future.

Position Overview

The Tax Associate will serve as the critical hub of our tax practice, managing the entire lifecycle of the client experience. Your primary mission is to bridge the gap between our clients and our technical tax preparation team. You will own client onboarding, document collection, pipeline tracking, and ongoing communication, ensuring a seamless, high-touch experience for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Relations & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax clients, guiding them through the onboarding and compliance process.
  • Coordinate communications between clients and the technical tax preparation team to resolve open items quickly.
  • Explain process steps and timeline expectations to clients in clear, welcoming language.

Pipeline & Document Management

  • Own the document collection process, proactively gathering tax source documents from clients.
  • Manage and track the status of all tax returns, ensuring the pipeline moves efficiently from intake to final delivery.
  • Coordinate the secure delivery of completed tax packages and e-file authorizations to clients.
  • Maintain internal CRM and tracking systems with absolute accuracy to ensure no client file falls through the cracks.

Practice Building

  • Identify bottlenecks in the current client experience or workflow and suggest process improvements.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors to ensure a cohesive experience across both wealth management and tax services.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4 years of professional experience in a client-facing or high-volume project management role (ideally within public accounting, wealth management, or legal services).
  • Obsessive organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) with an ability to communicate professionally and empathetic with high-net-worth clients.
  • Long-term career ambition to grow into a role where you will manage or run a tax practice.

Preferred

  • Active CPA or EA license (highly preferred, but not mandatory).
  • Familiarity with tax documents (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s) and general tax terminology.
  • Familiarity with TaxDome or similar tax practice management software.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

Most public accounting firms silo their associates into rigid data-entry or technical prep roles with zero client interaction. We do the opposite.

  • The Ultimate Mentorship: Learn the business operations, client management, and advisory integration required to run a multi-million-dollar practice.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work alongside wealth advisors where investments, estate planning, and taxes intersect.
  • Relationship-Driven: Focus on deep, long-term relationships rather than transactional compliance volume.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Performance bonuses based on practice and individual growth.
  • Retirement plan with company match.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • In-office role with flexible daily scheduling.
  • Full reimbursement for CPE, professional licensing, or CPA/EA exam preparation if pursued.
  • Direct track to future practice leadership and executive opportunities.
