POSITION SUMMARY:

The Middle School Teacher is responsible for creating a learning environment where students are known, challenged, and supported as they grow academically, socially, and spiritually. This role exists to guide students through a critical stage of development by delivering engaging instruction, fostering positive relationships, and reinforcing consistent expectations.

The Middle School Teacher works under the leadership and support of the Middle School Principal and collaborates closely with colleagues and support staff to serve students and partner with families.

The overall impact of this role is a strong, healthy middle school culture where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn—and where academic growth, character formation, and community are intentionally cultivated every day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and delivers developmentally appropriate, engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards and school expectations.
  • Creates and maintains a structured, supportive classroom environment with clear routines, expectations, and consistent follow-through.
  • Builds and sustains positive relationships with students that promote belonging, accountability, and growth.
  • Monitors and assesses student learning using a variety of formative and summative measures to guide instruction and provide timely feedback.
  • Differentiates instruction to meet diverse learning needs and supports students with varying academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Tracks and implements student accommodations and learning supports, ensuring accurate communication and partnership with the Extend Team and Student Support services.
  • Supports and reinforces school-wide behavioral expectations and contributes to a healthy middle school culture.
  • Communicates regularly with families regarding student progress, concerns, attendance-related matters, and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborates actively with colleagues, the Middle School Dean of Teaching and Learning, the Extend Team, support staff, and administration to support student learning and team goals.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records related to attendance, grading, and required documentation within the school’s student information systems.
  • Participates in and supports school-wide safety protocols, including drills and emergency procedures, following established guidelines.
  • Participates in professional learning, team meetings, and school events as part of the broader school community.
  • Models professionalism, integrity, and care in interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Supervises and supports students during assigned duties and co-curricular activities as needed.

Denver Christian School is an independent, PreK-12 Christian school dedicated to serving students from Christian families across the Denver metro area, including those in early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school. Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid state teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) appropriate to middle school instruction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a content area aligned to the teaching assignment.
  • High proficiency with Google Workspace, the school’s learning management system, and student information systems used for attendance, grading, and communication.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess instruction aligned to curriculum standards and school expectations.
  • Strong classroom management skills, including the ability to establish and maintain clear routines and expectations.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for working with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage confidential student information in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, the Middle School Dean of Teaching and Learning, the Extend Team, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the school, including alignment with its educational and faith-based purpose.

PREFERRED  QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching middle school students in a classroom setting.
  • Experience with student information systems (e.g., FACTS/SIS), internal reporting tools, and school-based data systems.
  • Understanding of middle school operations, including scheduling cycles and student support processes.
  • Experience working collaboratively on grade-level or departmental teams.
  • Experience using student data to inform instruction and monitor progress.
  • Comfort partnering with families through clear, proactive communication.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning and instructional coaching.
  • Experience integrating faith, character formation, or values-based learning into classroom practice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the school day.
  • Ability to move throughout the campus, including classrooms, hallways, stairways, and outdoor spaces.
  • Ability to supervise students in classrooms, common areas, and during assigned duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials typically associated with classroom instruction (e.g., books, supplies).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with students, families, and colleagues.
