Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, including collecting payments and updating records
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information security
- Assist with documentation review, medical billing, and processing claims in EMR systems like Meditech or eClinicalWorks
- Support clinic operations by managing filing, faxing, scanning, and data entry tasks
- Coordinate with dental staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and appointment scheduling
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient care plans and treatment notes in electronic health record (EHR) systems
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a dental receptionist or in medical office administration is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD, CPT), and health information management systems such as Eaglesoft
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is advantageous
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing)
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and professional phone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
