What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator III/Certified Nursing Assistant/Personal Care Assistant position at Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District?
HOURS: Monday through Friday 6.5 hours per day plus a half hour unpaid lunch. This is a school year position that includes a 6 week summer program.
COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Secretaries and Assistants Association located on the DY website.

SUMMARY: Provide support services to high school students who are medically fragile in a classroom setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) by following protocols of each student.
- Assist students in all motor activities in turning, positioning, lifting and transferring.
- Takes care of students' personal hygiene by assisting with toileting, maintaining skin integrity, and keeping students clean at all times.
- Follows nurse instructions to perform procedures, including but not limited to applying non-sterile dressings, ice packs, and heat treatments.
- Complies with FERPA Privacy Act by protecting confidentiality of student information.
- Follows all policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment.
- Participates in all training and continuing education. Maintains licensure to meet federal, state and accreditation standards.
- Provides student comfort by utilizing resources and materials; and reporting observations of the student to the nursing supervisor and lead teacher.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs and records.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, reviewing and implementing students' IEPs and other special education documents, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
- While the primary role is to meet a student's basic needs, you may have many other duties including instructional assistance.
- These responsibilities are dictated by the students' IEPs, health plans and teacher and nurse directives.
- Depending on daily needs, this can involve changing student clothing, cleaning up spills, sanitizing equipment to help prevent the spread of germs in the classroom.
- Maintains licensure to meet federal, state, and accreditation standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BLS Certification by American Heart Association (preferred)
- We are looking for an experienced CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant/HHA Home Health Aide/Personal Care Attendant certificate
- Knowledge of relevant nursing care
- Friendly, collaborative, and professional manner
- Associate's degree
- Maintains current CPR certification
- Multi-tasking skills
- Effective oral, written and reading communication skills
- Understands legal implications of patient care
