ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Evaluations & Assessments: Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations to determine eligibility for services under IDEA. Assess students' gross motor skills, functional mobility, balance, and posture within the classroom, cafeteria, and playground settings.
- IEP Development: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans with measurable, educationally relevant goals.
- Direct Intervention: Provide high-quality, evidence-based physical therapy services to students individually or in small groups to improve their school-based function and independence.
- Using a multisensory approach, provide experiences for children to develop motor skills utilizing practical activities.
- Consultation & Training: Train teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents on safe lifting, transferring techniques, positioning, and the proper use of assistive equipment.
- Communicates with parents and teachers through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school program.
- Maintain professional competence through in service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Monitor and adapt physical education classes and consult with PE staff.
- Environmental Adaptation: Recommend and implement environmental modifications to ensure school buildings and activities are accessible. Manage and fit assistive technology, such as standers, walkers, and specialized seating.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, confidential records of student progress, treatment logs, and Medicaid billing (if applicable) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA certification in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- MA state license - Allied Health Professionals as an Physical Therapist.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
