What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at DELTAK Inc.?
Summary: The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products leaving the Deltak shop meet or exceed customer expectations and conform to applicable requirements. This position is critical to maintaining a consistent quality product and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and drawings to ensure conformity to purchase order requirements.
- Perform required inspection, examination, and testing of code materials and components in accordance with the Quality Control Manual and applicable codes.
- Inspect and verify product layouts and fit-ups meet print and code requirements.
- Conduct in-process inspections of power boilers, pressure vessels, and piping fabrication per code/project requirements and sign off Operational Routing (ORs).
- Perform final inspection per code on prints and specifications for completed units prior to shipment, including steam drums, piping, boilers, and structural steel, and obtain engineering release after completion of inspection.
- Review drawings and ORs for inspection on a timely basis.
- Check As/Built Material Records, heat treatment charts, and hydro test reports for compliance with ASME Code and project requirements.
- Verify code stamping of pressure vessels in accordance with the applicable Code requirements.
- Provide support to the Quality Department through preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, Operational Routing (ORs), Quality Record Book data, and other quality-related document/paperwork activities.
- Assist in quality audits and root cause analysis.

Technical Requirements:
- Technical AWS CWI Certification required.
- MT/PT Level I, UT desired.
- Technical training regarding Quality Control standards essential.
- Possess working knowledge of shop procedures, fabrication and welding processes, and related quality standards.
- Effective communication skills to interface with company personnel to achieve optimal outcomes for the manufacture of quality equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Technical software skills to keep accurate and easily accessible records: Quality Control software programs and systems, MS Office (Word and Excel), MS Outlook, and MRP systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform work both within an office environment and an industrial fabrication facility.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in Quality Assurance preferred.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in ASME related Quality Control, boiler manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of welding, non-destructive examination and equipment, fabrication in shop and field, and the ASME Code (Sections I, II, V, VIII, and IX specifically) preferred.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Additional experience with AWS D1.1, ASME B31.1 and B31.3 a plus. ASNT certifications a plus.
